How to set up and use Request Approval to Continue action

Pauses a Workflow until approval is received from designated team members. Follow these steps:

For example, you might generate a topic idea for a blog post using AI, then get approval on the idea before generating the full blog post.

  1. Add a Request Approval to Continue action: While editing a Workflow, click the plus button between existing blocks. This will open a modal where you can select from Cassidy's pre-configured actions. Choose the Request Approval to Continue action to add it to your Workflow.

  2. Rename the action (if needed): If you want to make the action more descriptive or easier to reference as a variable later, enter a new name.

  3. Select "Approvers": Select team members who will be notified to approve this step. If no approvers are selected, the request will be sent to the user who triggered the Workflow.

  4. Enter "Subject": Provide a clear subject line that describes what needs approval.

  5. Enter "Approval Request Message": Write the message that approvers will see in the email they receive. You can use variables from previous steps to include context.

  6. Run the Workflow: When the Workflow reaches this action, the selected approver(s) will receive an email notification with the approval request.

This approval process can also be managed through the Cassidy Workflow UI for team members who prefer to review requests directly in the platform.

  7. Approver takes action: The approver can click "Approve" to continue the Workflow or "Dismiss" to stop it. They will receive confirmation and can click "View in Run" to see the output in Cassidy.

  8. Continue or stop: If the approver clicks "Approve", the Workflow will continue to the next step. If they dismiss the request, the Workflow will stop executing.

Here's a sample of the type of output you can expect:
