How to set up and use Request Input from Team action

Pauses a Workflow until input is received from designated team members. Follow these steps:

For example, you might generate a draft email and then request team members to review and edit it before sending, or collect additional recipients to include in the email.

  1. Add a Request Input from Team action: While editing a Workflow, click the plus button between existing blocks. This will open a modal where you can select from Cassidy's pre-configured actions. Choose the Request Input from Team action to add it to your Workflow.

  2. Rename the action (if needed): If you want to make the action more descriptive or easier to reference as a variable later, enter a new name.

  3. Select "Recipients": Choose team members who will be notified to provide input. If no recipients are selected, the request will be sent to the user who triggered the Workflow.

  4. Enter "Subject": Provide a clear subject line that describes what input is needed.

  5. Enter "Email Body": Write the message that recipients will see in the email they receive. You can use variables from previous steps to include context.

  6. Add "Inputs to Collect": Configure the fields which will be used to collect input from the user once the Workflow is run. Click "+ Add" and then select either "+ New Blank Input" or "Edit Existing Value":

    • New Blank Input means the recipient can add new information to be used in future steps of the Workflow (in this example, any other recipients to include in cc). Refer to Manual Trigger for steps on how to create input fields.

    • Edit Existing Value means the recipient can edit the output (for example, the email body that was generated before it is sent out). Select "Existing Value" which is the variable (trigger or output from previous steps) that should be editable. Enter "Input Field Name", enter Description under Advanced Settings section.

  7. Organize inputs: You can reorder inputs by dragging and dropping them into position. You can also edit by clicking the pencil icon or delete by clicking the trash icon.

  8. Reference variables in later steps: Use the collected inputs in subsequent Workflow steps (like the list of additional recipients, and the edited personalized email).

  9. Run the Workflow: When the Workflow reaches this action, the selected recipient(s) will receive an email notification with the input request.

This input process can also be managed through the Cassidy Workflow UI for team members who prefer to review requests directly in the platform.

  10. Recipient takes action: The recipient can click "Open Input Form" or "Dismiss" the request. If they choose to open the form, they can fill in the fields and make any necessary edits, then click "Submit" (or view in run to do it from the Cassidy UI).

  11. Confirmation: After submitting, the recipient will see a confirmation modal with "View in Run" option to see the results in Cassidy.

  12. Continue Workflow: Once input is submitted, the Workflow will continue to the next step with the collected data available as variables.

Here's a sample of the type of output you can expect:
