How to set up and use Send Message to Teams Chat action
Sends a message to a Microsoft Teams chat. Follow these steps:
Add a Send Message to Teams Chat action: While editing a workflow, click the plus button between existing blocks. This will open a modal where you can select from Cassidy's pre-configured actions. Choose the Send Message to Teams Chat action to add it to your workflow.
Rename the action (if needed): Enter a new name if you want to make the action more descriptive or easier to reference as a variable later.
Add Microsoft Teams connection: If you haven't already, connect your Microsoft Teams account to Cassidy.
The Microsoft Teams connection requires admin approval. See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/enterprise-apps/configure-admin-consent-workflow for more information. Either you will need to obtain admin approval, or an admin in your organization will need to check the "Consent on behalf of your organization" checkbox during the connection process.
Toggle on "Reply to Trigger Message" (optional): If using in conjunction with "New Teams Chat Message" trigger, enable this option to reply to the same chat that triggered the Workflow. If enabled, the message will be sent in the same chat as the trigger message. When this option is enabled, you only need to fill out the "Message" field.
Enter "Chat": Select the chat to send a message to. You can also click the pencil icon to enter the chat ID directly instead of selecting from the list. You can reference variables from previous steps or the trigger to provide context. This field is only required if "Reply to Trigger Message" is not toggled on.
Enter "Message": Enter the message to send to the chat. You can type the message directly or reference a variable containing the message from a previous step or the trigger.
The message will be delivered directly to the specified Microsoft Teams chat, appearing as if sent by the user with the connected account.
