How to set up and use Send Message to Teams Channel action
Sends a message to a Microsoft Teams channel to improve communication within your team. Follow these steps:
Add a Send Message to Teams Channel action: While editing a workflow, click the plus button between existing blocks. This will open a modal where you can select from Cassidy's pre-configured actions. Choose the Send Message to Teams Channel action to add it to your workflow.
Rename the action (if needed): Enter a new name if you want to make the action more descriptive or easier to reference as a variable later.
Add Microsoft Teams connection: If you haven't already, connect your Microsoft Teams account to Cassidy.
The Microsoft Teams connection requires admin approval. See https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/enterprise-apps/configure-admin-consent-workflow for more information. Either you will need to obtain admin approval, or an admin in your organization will need to check the "Consent on behalf of your organization" checkbox during the connection process.
Toggle on "Reply to Trigger Message" (optional): If using in conjunction with "New Teams Channel Message" trigger, enable this option to reply to the same channel that triggered the Workflow. When this option is enabled, you only need to fill out the "Message" field.
Enter "Team": Select the team of the channel to send a message to. You can also click the pencil icon to enter the team ID directly instead of selecting from the list. You can reference variables from previous steps or the trigger to provide context.
Enter "Channel": Select the channel to send a message to. You can also click the pencil icon to enter the channel ID directly instead of selecting from the list. This field is only required if "Reply to Trigger Message" is not toggled on.
Enter "Subject" (optional): Enter the subject of the message if desired.
Enter "Message": Enter the message to send to the channel. You can type the message directly or reference a variable containing the message from a previous step or the trigger.
The message will be delivered directly to the specified Microsoft Teams channel, appearing as if sent by the user with the connected account.
