How to set up and use Upload Knowledge Base File action
Upload and save files to your Knowledge Base using Workflow outputs or trigger attachments. Follow these steps:
Add an Upload Knowledge Base File action: While editing a Workflow, click the plus button between existing blocks. This will open a modal where you can select from Cassidy's pre-configured actions. Choose the Upload Knowledge Base File action to add it to your Workflow.
Rename the action (if needed): If you want to make the action more descriptive or easier to reference as a variable later, enter a new name.
Enter "File Name": Specify the name for the file being uploaded to your Knowledge Base. You can reference variables from previous steps or the trigger to dynamically generate the file name.
Variables are inputs from the trigger, or outputs from previous steps
Select File to Save: Choose the file source using one of the available options, such as:
Trigger attachment: Select files attached to email triggers or form submissions
Example: Automatically save email attachments like contracts, invoices, or reports directly to your Knowledge Base.
Variable from previous step: Use files generated by other Workflow actions such as Export actions that create CSVs, PDFs, or other document formats
Example: Save a generated report from an Export step or a PDF created from a previous action.
Select Location: Choose the folder or collection within your Knowledge Base where the file should be uploaded.
Static Folder: Select a specific folder from your knowledge base..
Example: This is ideal when you always need to upload files to the same folder, such as a contracts folder.
Knowledge Base Item Reference: Use a variable that references a Knowledge Base item
Example: Adding a file to a client folder selected as part of the trigger input.
Dynamic Path: Specify a folder path based on variables or naming conventions. Example: Uploading to a specific client folder based on the client name as an input.
Select Knowledge Base Collection: Choose the collection where the document should be located.
Folder Path: Enter the path separated by forward slashes to specify the exact location of the document.
Create if Not Found: Toggle this option on if you want to create the missing folder if it doesn't exist.
