How to set up and use action

Searches your Cassidy Knowledge base for information. Follow these steps:

  1. Add a Search Knowledge Base action: While editing a workflow, click the plus button between existing blocks. This will open a modal where you can select from Cassidy's pre-configured actions. Choose the Search Knowledge Base action to add it to your workflow.

  2. Rename the action (if needed): If you want to make the action more descriptive or easier to reference as a variable later, enter a new name.

  3. Enter the "Search Query": In the "Search Query" field, enter a question or query that can be answered by information in your Knowledge Base or reference variables from previous steps or the trigger to provide the query.

*Variables are inputs from the trigger, or outputs from previous steps

  4. Configure advanced settings: Click to expand the advanced settings section to access additional configuration options:

    • Generate an AI answer toggle: When toggled on, returns an AI-generated answer using knowledge from the Knowledge Base. When toggled off, returns a list of summarized search results instead.

    • Show Knowledge Base References toggle: Controls whether Knowledge Base source references are displayed in the output.

    • Result Count: Select the number of search results you want to retrieve from your Knowledge Base (only applicable if "Generate an AI answer" is toggled off). This helps you control the amount of information returned by the search action.

  5. Select "Search Scope": Choose the specific parts of your Knowledge Base that you want to search, such as "Articles", "FAQs", or "Documents". If no scope is selected, the search will include all available content in your Knowledge Base.

Here's a sample of the type of output you can expect (Generate an AI Answer toggled on and off, respectively):
