# Manage Open Source models

> Learn how Cassidy provides Open Source models, protects your data, and controls access.

<Info>
  Open Source models are a preview feature available to selected organizations.
  [Contact us](mailto:support@cassidyai.com) if you'd like access.
</Info>

Cassidy offers Open Source models as an opt-in choice for your organization. For some tasks, they can provide better performance for the cost than models from leading AI providers. See [Choose the right AI model](/guides/choose-ai-model) to compare your options.

## How your data is handled

Open Source models run on Fireworks AI, Inc., which Cassidy uses as a subprocessor for these requests. Cassidy never sends your data to the labs that created these models.

Fireworks processes these requests with **zero data retention (ZDR)**. Neither Cassidy nor Fireworks uses your inputs or outputs to train AI models. ZDR applies to Fireworks' model processing; it does not change the data your organization saves in Cassidy.

Open Source models support HIPAA workloads. Fireworks is covered by Cassidy's HIPAA subprocessor arrangements for customers using Cassidy under a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). If your organization handles protected health information, put a BAA in place with Cassidy before using these models. See [Compliance](/security/compliance-overview) and the [Trust Center](/security/trust-center) for details about agreements and subprocessors.

## Control access for your organization

Open Source models are off by default. If your organization has access, an organization admin can turn them on in **Organization Settings → Controls**. By enabling the control, the admin authorizes Cassidy to use Fireworks for Open Source model requests. The organization's agreement with Cassidy, including any subprocessor notice terms, still applies. Team members can then use these models in Cassidy.

To show Open Source models in the Agent selector for new chats, an admin can add them from the [Default Agents](/settings/default-agents) page.

Turning the control off stops team members from selecting Open Source models. Existing Agents and Workflows that already use them keep running on Fireworks until you switch them to another model. To stop all Open Source model requests, change those Agents and Workflows to another model.
