To configure Data Analysis for your Assistant, you'll need to enable this tool and provide specific instructions about your data source. Data Analysis treats files as actual data rather than parsing them into text, allowing the AI to generate code that analyzes your data directly.
Navigate to the Assistants page: Click on the "Assistants" tab in the left sidebar to access your list of Assistants.
Select the Assistant: Choose the Assistant you want to configure for data analysis by clicking on its card or opening the ellipses (more options) menu and selecting "Edit."
Access the Tools tab: In the Assistant's settings, navigate to the "Tools" tab to configure and manage tools available to your Assistant.
Add Data Analysis: Click the "Add" button on the Data Analysis option to enable this tool for your Assistant.
Save changes: Click "Save" to apply the Data Analysis tool to your Assistant.
Configure instructions: Navigate to the "General" tab and in the instructions section, reference the specific file you want to always be analyzed. This file can be connected to live data from synced integrations including Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Box.
Chat with your Assistant: Start a conversation with your Assistant to begin analyzing your data. See Analyzing data in a chat for more information.
*We recommend using the GPT-4o model for Data Analysis and turning off Knowledge Base search to optimize performance for data analysis tasks.
Best practices for data analysis instructions:
Include specific column names in your instructions (e.g., "Location" rather than "column C")
Explain value formats, such as whether states are abbreviated or written out in full
Provide context about the underlying data source and structure
The more detail you provide, the fewer assumptions the AI needs to make, resulting in more accurate analysis
By following these steps, your Assistant will be equipped to perform sophisticated data analysis, automatically generating code to interpret and analyze your data based on user queries.
