To configure Data Analysis for your Agent, you'll need to enable this tool and provide specific instructions about your data source. Data Analysis treats files as actual data rather than parsing them into text, allowing the AI to generate code that analyzes your data directly.
Navigate to the Agents page: Click on the "Agents" tab in the left sidebar to access your list of Agents.
Select the Agent: Choose the Agent you want to configure for data analysis by clicking on its card or opening the ellipses (more options) menu and selecting "Edit."
Access the Tools section: In the Agent's settings, navigate to the Tools section of the "Setup" tab to configure and manage tools available to your Agent.
Add Data Analysis: Click "+ Add" and select "Data Analysis" to enable this tool for your Agent.
Configure instructions (optional): If you want the Agent to always reference the same file, navigate to the "General" tab and in the instructions section, reference the specific file you want to always be analyzed. This file can be connected to live data from synced integrations including Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Box. Otherwise, if the Agent searches or finds data files like CSVs and XLSXs in your Knowledge Base when data analysis is turned on it will treat them as data files that it can manipulate and analyze by writing code on the fly. In addition, files can be uploaded directly in the Chat as well.

Best practices for data analysis instructions:
Include specific column names in your instructions (e.g., "Location" rather than "column C")
Explain value formats, such as whether states are abbreviated or written out in full
Provide context about the underlying data source and structure
The more detail you provide, the fewer assumptions the AI needs to make, resulting in more accurate analysis
By following these steps, your Agent will be equipped to perform sophisticated data analysis, automatically generating code to interpret and analyze your data based on user queries.
