The "Branch in new chat" feature lets you start a new Chat from any existing message in an existing Chat. The new Chat begins with the complete conversation history up to and including the selected message, while the original Chat stays unchanged. This means you retain all the context and flow of the discussion leading up to that point, allowing you to explore different directions, test alternate prompts, or continue the conversation without modifying the original thread.
This feature can be accessed in:
Follow these steps:
Open an existing Chat and find the message: Open the Chat where you want to branch from. Now, scroll to the message that you want to use as the starting point for a new conversation.
Access the “Branch in new chat” option: Click the “…” below the selected message, then click “Branch in new chat”.
A new Chat opens automatically: A new chat opens in a new tab starting from the selected message. The original chat remains unchanged, and the new chat is labeled “Branched from [Chat Title]”.
Continue conversation: Add your next prompt in the new Chat to explore a different direction from the selected message.
