How to set up and use the New Gong Call Transcript trigger
The Gong New Call Transcript trigger allows you to automatically run Workflows whenever a call transcript becomes available in Gong. You can extract insights, update CRM records, and automate post-call processes without manual intervention.
Follow these steps:
Add a Gong New Call Transcript trigger: Create a blank Workflow or use an existing Workflow and add a Gong New Call Transcript trigger.
Connect your Gong account: If you haven't already, connect your Gong account to Cassidy. Click the "Connect" button to start the connection process.
Process the transcript data: Define what you want to do with the transcript data and build your Workflow around it by adding relevant actions. Common actions include:
Generate Text: Extract action items, commitments, and next steps from the call transcript.
Update CRM: Update your CRM system with call information.
Send Email: Send a summary email to the account team with call highlights and action items.
Send Slack Message: Send the call highlights to a relevant Slack channel.
*For the purpose of this article, we’ll set up a Workflow to get the call transcript via Slack. Follow these steps:
Add a Generate Text action: Click the “+” button after the New Call Transcript trigger to add the Generate Text action, and configure it. Read more about how to configure the Generate Text action.
Structure the output: In the Generate Text Action configuration settings, choose the variables in the “User Prompt” box to structure the output as you want. Press “#” and choose the New Call Transcript trigger. The trigger provides the following variables:
Call ID: Unique identifier for the call
Call Title: The title of the call
Call Started: Timestamp when the call began
Call Transcript: Full text transcript of the call
Call URL: Link to the call in Gong
Parties: List of participants in the call
Scheduled: Whether the call was scheduled
Duration: Length of the call
Scope: The workspace scope in Gong
Client Unique ID: Unique identifier for the client
Custom Data: Any custom data fields you configured
Purpose: The purpose of the call
Meeting URL: The original meeting URL (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet link)
Add a Send Slack Message action: Follow up with a Send Slack Message action that references the output of the Generate Text action and sends it to your chosen Slack channel. Find more information about the Send Slack Message action.
Publish the Workflow: Publish your Workflow to get a transcript of a new call via Slack after it becomes available in Gong.
*This Workflow won't trigger immediately when the call ends. There is a variable delay (up to an hour) between the end of the meeting and when Gong processes the transcript.
