Ask questions with files and images

Cassidy's chat interface allows you to easily upload and share files and images with your AI assistant, enabling you to ask questions and get answers based on the content of those files.

This article will guide you through the process of uploading and chatting with files and images.

*Files and images uploaded through the chat interface are considered temporary, meaning they are not permanently saved to your knowledge base. If you need to store a file permanently, upload it directly to the knowledge base first, then reference it in the chat.

*Images cannot be stored in the knowledge base

  • How to reference knowledge base information in chat

Uploading and chatting with files

  1. Start a new chat: Begin by clicking the "New Chat" button in the left sidebar or on the "All Chats" page.

  2. Click the "+" button: In the bottom left corner of the text box, click the "+" button to open the attachment options.

  3. Select "Attach a File": From the attachment options, click "Attach a File" to open a file browser window.

  4. Choose the file: Navigate to the location of the file you want to upload and select it. You can also drag and drop files directly into the chat window to add them to the conversation.

  5. Chat with the file: Once the file is added to the chat, you can interact with it in the same way you would when referencing a knowledge base item. Ask questions, request summaries, or seek specific information related to the file's content. For more information on referencing items in chat, see the article on referencing knowledge base items.

  5. Chat with the image: Once the image is added to the chat, you can ask questions or request information related to the image, such as:

    • "Can you describe what you see in this image?"

    • "What text, if any, is visible in the image?"

    • "Can you extract any relevant data from this chart or graph?"

The AI assistant will analyze the image and provide responses based on its content.

By uploading files and images directly to your chats, you can quickly share context and get answers from your AI assistant without the need to permanently store the files in your knowledge base. This feature is particularly useful for one-off questions or when working with temporary content.
