The Cassidy Word and Excel extension brings your Agents into Microsoft Office. Generate content in Word documents, answer RFP questions in Excel, and work with your files using your company’s Knowledge Base — all from a side panel within the app.

Install the extension

Open the Microsoft Office Store

Go to the Cassidy Word and Excel extension in the Microsoft Office Store.

Start the installation

Click Get it now to begin the installation process.

Sign in to Microsoft

If you’re not already signed in, you’ll be prompted to log in to your Microsoft account before continuing.

Confirm your account

A confirmation dialog shows your account information. Verify you’re signed in with the correct account and click Get it now. Click Edit your details if you need to make changes.

Accept the installation

A dialog asks if you’d like to install Cassidy for Word and Excel. Click Continue to proceed.

Access the extension

Once installed, you’ll see the Cassidy icon in the toolbar. You can also find it through the Add-ins menu.

Sign in to Cassidy

When you first open the extension, you’ll be prompted to sign in to your Cassidy account.

Use Cassidy in Word

Open a document

Open the Word document you want to work with.

Open the Cassidy Agent

Click the Cassidy icon from your toolbar or the Add-ins menu. The Agent opens in a side panel.

Use or edit the suggested prompt

A prompt is automatically populated in the chat box based on your document, giving you a starting point. You can ask the Agent to draft new content, rewrite a section, summarize the document, or answer questions using your Knowledge Base.

Insert content

Once you’re happy with the generated content, click Add to Document to insert it directly into your Word document.

Use Cassidy in Excel

Answer RFP questions from a spreadsheet

Select a cell

Click on the cell containing the question you need to answer — for example, an RFP question in a spreadsheet.

Ask the Agent for an answer

Click the Cassidy icon from your toolbar and enter a prompt asking for help answering the question. The Agent uses your Knowledge Base to generate an accurate, company-specific response.

Insert the response into a cell

Click the cell where you want the answer, then click Add to Cell to insert the AI-generated response directly into your spreadsheet.
